I asked, “How could creation come from out of nowhere?
Eyes shining, he gently drew me closely to him,
And said, “Let me tell you how all things enter in.”
When darkness brooded over the deep, God had a magnificent plan.
Breaking the silence with His Word all creation began
Shouting “Let there be light!” Time suddenly rose
In a standing ovation for The Creator Ex-Nihilo.
Worlds in the clouds parting from the sea and opening up the sky
God watched as layers for life went waltzing by
Singing, “Let there be Heaven!” angels danced before Him
In circles of color, for prisms of space had entered in.
There was so much more He would say; no God wouldn’t stop there.
Filling the earth and sea with life—their own kind to bear.
Scattering seeds with Words all across His creation,
Fruit bearing fruit, herb bearing herb, thus enter vegetation.
Luminaries tied in place, gift-wrapped bows of atmosphere
Spelling out salvation’s story, God’s stars ring so crystal clear.
Separating dark from light, earth’s rotation would begin,
And that’s how our signs and seasons entered in.
Fish and fowl would enter their own places, God would see to that.
Creeping things on earth and Sea giants began to begat and begat
So to awaken the land and waters with their special kind of kin,
God blessed them to multiply and their own entered in.
Then came the pinnacle of God’s greatest prizes, the present glory of the age.
Entering His spirit into man, He gave us His very own image
So that we could carry out on earth all that He did begin,
That is how you-- my beloved-- entered in.
Enter now the forbidden fruit yes the one God said not to eat.
Taking it in you lost your place of rest at our Father’s feet.
Shame revealed your nakedness, so clothing hid your skin,
All because the sin of man had been allowed to enter in.
But, my bride, don’t shed one tear, you know the story is not over.
I left the throne for you alone, my blood your sin does cover.
So rest with me in my rocking chair in heaven,
For when you came home I had to gasp, “my love hurry and enter in.”
