The bright blue ship had appeared at the edge of the Solar System; a clean jump from hyperspace. It hadn’t answered a single call from ground control since it appeared.
“Bluebird 1 please respond.”
“Mike,” a voice said behind him. “Here come the others.”
On the screen eleven more ships jumped into existence, twelve bluebirds in all.
The twelve ships formed a V with Bluebird 1 at point. All the ships refused to answer requests to communicate.
The ships moved through the solar system, jumping from planet to planet, slowly circling each planet in the system, and then they moved toward the Sun and the Earth.

Over the rainbow they flew
Twelve bluebird ships
Wishing on a star to find others
Seeking the meaning of the Universe
To understand existence
Looking for God
Far out into the reaches
Of space
They flew
Searching
Silently they returned
Flying low over
The chimney tops
With
Dreams they dared to dream
Coming true
On returning home.
Sky’s are blue
Fields are green
In all of the Universe
They found only Earth
As the Garden of Eden
No life
No aliens
Only mankind
God’s creation
In his image
Who fell to
The knowledge of good and evil
Saved
By His Son
For purpose
For love
For brotherhood
For the Father
For us
That’s where you’ll find me
He promised
Away above the chimney tops
For you
Forever
The twelve ships landed
The crew disembarked
They fell to their knees
On God’s great Earth.
And raised their hands
In grateful prayer
Thanking God
Over and over
For
There’s no place like home.
