On a singular trip six months ago as they were travelling, their plane crashed. This is what she wrote about the experience.
First impression:-
It’s everywhere I looked.
Like strawberry juice, crimson but thicker and it smelt. I must be confused! I looked around me.
Next to me was my companion who was bleeding and I was unhurt. There was so much blood and it was flowing unrestrained from him. How did we get here and how did this happen?
“Stop. Do not panic. You can deal with this.”
Empty.
My mind was blank. No thoughts came to me. This is not a good situation and I do not have much time. I knew that I must act.
“Oh God, help us”, I prayed.
Suddenly old nursing knowledge returned. That’s it. I must stop the flow of blood! I look around and I see mail bags strewn everywhere.
“Grab any empty bags” was my thought. Then I saw cotton sheets and cotton bags!
“Apply pressure..above the pulsating wounds. No wavering now. Save his life!” I obeyed my inner voice and slowly the flow stopped, but he was still unresponsive.
Second impression:-
Slowly it all comes back. Donald was my husband and co-pilot. We were flying a small mail plane over a familiar mountain range when there was a sudden engine explosion. I felt and heard the impact of metal against rock. it as we crashed into the mountain. I heard loud bangs and I felt violent shudders. We had been thrust into the face of a mountain.
Third impression:-
By the grace of God, we were thrown out of the plane.
I was conscious but he was not! He was hurt.
I could move so I hauled him out to a safe distance away. Blood was everywhere but thankfully he was no longer bleeding. I checked the bandages. They were secure.
“Please God. Help!” I kept on praying. About half hour later although it seemed like hours to me; I saw some people approaching. I hoped that they were not the much-feared rebels.
As events unfolded they were not.
Don recovered and we are flying again. Local church and family pray for us daily.
Thank God.

It held a note of authenticity...I don't know if it's true or not, but it's a wonderful piece.
