Topic: AGREE TO DISAGREE (05/04/17)
I had been to the dentist and made my way back to the car, parked near a couple of ambulances at the local Medical Centre. One of the ambulances started to move off so I waited until it made its way to the exit and I followed. It is an extremely busy place and though there was a security guard who helped people to find a parking space, someone had blocked the road by parking unofficially across a narrow spot on the exit road. The ambulance was unable to get around the parked car. The security guard had to locate the missing driver - fast.

There is only one word to describe the driver’s attitude when he arrived – obstreperous! I couldn’t hear what was said but didn’t need to. He pushed, he poked, and he followed the poor security guy’s face with his own, up front and furious.

The ambulance driver tried unsuccessfully to manoeuvre and I reversed as far as I could. Another car was behind me, and its driver left his car and strode towards the scene. A strong young man with an air of authority. Looking on from my vantage point I appreciated his calm demeanour. His mobile phone took a photo of the angry driver, his car and its registration number. Amused, I watched a slightly calmer man get into his car and attempt some moves to extricate the ambulance and allow it on its way. The liberator ambled back towards the gathering row of waiting vehicles and I spoke to him as he passed to thank him for his intervention.

“I’m an off-duty Bobby,” he grinned. “I wasn’t going to allow that going on!”

Provision of the Lord, I thought, and followed with another; A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. (Proverbs 25:11)

The policeman may not be a Christian but he had the right attitude. Now I understand Proverbs 26:4 & 5 because he followed through on both. “Do not answer a fool according to his folly or you will be like him yourself,” and “Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes.”

Through the years there have been many opportunities to share my faith, either in confrontation or lifestyle. Sometimes arguments develop and whether it is said or not there is the attitude of “Don’t confuse me with Truth; my mind’s made up.” They like to think it’s set in concrete and sometimes there is only one solution; PRAY.

It’s advice given by William Fay in his “Share Jesus Without Fear.” Ask a scoffer or unbeliever “If what you believe were untrue, would you want to know?” If the answer is “no” PRAY! It works.

I liked your testimony. Thank you for sharing! I did have to re-read a bit to get the connection between the verses on folly to sharing one's faith, but I think I see what you mean. Our reactions to others is important.
