Some songwriters do eventually pack their guitars and check out, however Porter Wagoner was right. Misery loves company. (It makes big money too.)
You may not be surprised to find Roy Orbison is still there where he will always be, cry-y-y-ing over her. You'd think he would run out of tears eventually.
He's not the only one. Patsy Cline falls to pieces each time she sees him again. She's admits she's crazy for crying. Lesley Gore says she can cry if she wants too. It's her party. Pity Party that is. She's just as bad as Skeeter Davis who wants everyone to know her world ended when he said goodbye.
Then there's Frank Sinatra who keeps looking for his heart. He said he left it in San Francisco. I visited San Francisco once and didn't see any hearts lying around, broken or otherwise. Come to think of it, no livers or pancreases either.
I admire Petula Clark for leaving. She decided to forget all her troubles and go downtown. She prefers bright lights and music to the dim fizzle of candles casting shadows in a gloomy room. Me too.
I thought I'd find a peaceful place by going up on the roof. Never mind. It was too crowded. The Drifters were already up there hoping their cares would drift out into space. I wonder if that worked for them?
Elvis saw someone crying in the chapel. He described a place where the meaning of contentment is found.
I opened the pages of my Bible to see what I might find.
The faint scent lingered from a dried and faded rose pressed between the pages, a sad reminder of a broken promise. We women sometimes use our Bibles to crush our special flowers. Will my children find this rose someday and think they've found Eve's apron, or Adam's pants?
I found much more than that . . . the One who came to bind up the broken-hearted, the Rose of Sharon, crushed for me.
If you find a broken heart lying around in San Francisco, it's not mine. I checked out of Heartbreak Hotel with a brand new one The rest of me is healthy too. My friends say I'm beautiful inside and out.
I must have a lovely pancreas too.

BLessings~
I'm glad as a Christian I can leave all my heartbreak at Jesus' feet.
