It was simple really, not anything difficult, however she was not getting the desired results the customer was hoping to see. The output was either non-existent or in some cases producing a negative result.
Donna totally bewildered yelled across her cubicle to one of her colleagues. “Bill, I have read and re-read the specifications for this program and the output is almost opposite of what the customer is expecting.”
Bill shoving off with his feet rolled his chair to Donna’s cubicle to see if another set of eyes would help. He knew Donna was up against a hard deadline and he was more familiar with this customer than Donna was.
Handing the specifications and the source code to Bill, Donna went to grab some coffee and take a much needed break.
Looking at one of the customer’s specifications the program required the client to enter the input data on a daily basis and to provide a recovery of the data if the system crashed or any client error.
Bill continued his analysis and by the time Donna came back with two cups of hot coffee he had a pretty good idea what was happening.
“Donna, it appears the data attributes are being processed without any parameters. I would suggest writing an algorithm that when the requestor enters the data it must go through a series of steps to accomplish a positive end result.”
Donna knew that Bill was very familiar with the customer and together they brainstormed those parameters.
First, a daily reading of the customer’s manual would be very essential. Second, constant communication with the customer on a daily basis. Third, specific parameters for each data attribute and lastly, a primary key was added to each record.
Donna worked until the wee hours of the morning. She waited for Bill to come in before she tested the program. He was just excited as Donna to see the results
“Here we go” said Donna as she entered the data attributes the customer requested—-patience, kindness, not envious, not boastful, not proud, not rude, not self-seeking, not easily angered, keeps no records of wrongs, does not delight in evil, rejoices in truth, bears all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.
She watched as each one went through the algorithm and the parameters established. She held her breath as they both looked at the output.
There it was, exactly what the customer was looking for—a quiet spirit, fear replaced with faith, a cup of cold water given on behalf of the customer, a smile, a touch, encouragement, and forgiveness.
Donna, had one last thing to code, to ensure the system would run smoothly, she increased storage on the heart drive and added extra memory.
Exchanging some high fives, Donna let Bill know she could not have accomplished creating this program without sharing his understanding of the customer.
Curiously, Bill asked Donna, what she used for the primary key record.
Donna smiled, the only one that could be used, “LOVE, with two conditions—love for God and love others.”

Red ink:
algorithm - most of us, not in the computer programming world, know what this is, what it means, how it's used, and why. Is there another way you can explain algorithm without using the technical term?
increased memory to the heart drive - presume you meant hard drive.
Keep writing.
I believe you had a reason for writing, "Heart drive" to increase the "love" to bring forward the result.
I'm thinking that was intentional!
