I have no sense of time or place
or judgment for the human race.
I sit alone for all to see,
I am the world’s oldest tree.
Ten thousand feet you’ll find me at,
five thousand years in this habitat.
A simple blink from God’s great eye,
many civilizations of man I’ve seen pass by.
The oldest living thing on Earth,
the great Creator gave me birth.
He shaped and called me bristlecone pine,
I was conceived from his great mind.
My wisdom is in my rings of growth,
my spirit, my soul is of note.
And I have a word to share with you,
something that is overdue.
The word I have for you is love,
it comes again from the One above.
The one who’s son died on a tree,
out of love for you and me.
For it is only if we love one another,
and make them all our loving brother,
that we will end all world strife,
and God will give us the tree of life.
And, although I may be the oldest tree,
this tree is much much greater than me
So as you look to heaven above,
and think of trees and think of love,
remember me sent by the dove,
to repeat his loving message of love.
