Bold and haughty,
Pagan stranger in Canaan’s land—
Strutted out every morning and evening for 40 days,
Wearing protective bronze from head to toe.
Tauntingly, drew a battle line in the sand.
Fear spread like a virus, with wide tentacles,
throughout the camp.
Only one young boy with mighty faith,
Willingly took a stand.
Pride came before destruction;
From the very beginning,
The battle belonged to the Lord.
A stone felled the mighty giant,
And like a stampede of cattle,
The Philistine army did run.
Foreshadow of Christ’s victory on the cross,
Defeating death’s sting.
Loud and pretentious,
Shallow and arrogant,
Walked through the airport terminal,
With a “Made in America” t-shirt.
Pulled the baggage of
Wealth and materialism behind.
Took pictures of people,
With eyes that did not see.
Learn from this insensitive philistine
before it’s too late.
As God’s ambassadors:
Speak softly and show hospitality.
