There are so many examples of straying. Human beings, with our gift of choice - stray far from our safe harbor in Christ, seeking adventure.
Why are we passionate runners from the reality of safety? Do we not see safe havens as ideal places to live in and be blessed? What makes us so desperate for adventures that are potentially lethal? Because we can - and will do - and do to the heartbreak of all who love us.
Sure - danger can be very attractive, promising untold joys and living beyond mere "existing." Why Kamikazes? Why allow self-immolation for hopefully heavenly rewards? Why shred our knees on broken glass? Why race to face death straight into a pride of lions?
Is that the reason? Mere pride? Self-aggrandizement, the "look at what I can accomplish?" We need to take pride in Whose we are, and Who works through our mortal frames to bring us kinship with God. Flaunting our daredevil schemes are just that - the devil schemes to pull us away from following God.
I pray that if we are truly seeking adventure, we will don the armor of God and take His Standard for our lives. We believers are not wimps, we do not need to glorify ourselves.
Be brave - stay in His Fortress and fight His battles.
Still seeking adventure? Open His Word - there are thrills aplenty . . .
