Do you wish you were growing,
instead of slowing, to the lawn for mowing?
The weeds too fast growing, instead of slowing?
Is your hair no longer growing,
except on your chin or your ears?
Is arthritis showing?
Is the rheumatism slowing,
when your garden needs hoeing?
Are the tales of the young, cloying, deeply annoying
Like the wrinkles that keep your face from glowing,
and your end nears?
Have the Varicose made their showing?
Are the memories flowing,
while yesterday's going?
And your eyes prevent sewing,
and the crows keep toying,
making little dams for your tears?
Is your hair gently snowing, instead of flowing?
Are your senses plateauing,
Memories no longer bestowing,
All you used to be knowing,
Has time started blowing
Your beautiful reminders in arrears?
Why keep the boat rowing,
against the wind blowing?
You need to be knowing,
that the boat's to be mooring.
You can't fight the outgoing.
After all, you've had many good years.
