Surely you are your own worst enemy. You stand there, face reddened in shame with failure hung like an ill-fitting cloak. Has anyone ever been so pathetic?
Probably not.
Why do you choose to willingly dance with the adversary? Oblivious to the dangers, maybe you like the excitement of partnering with evil himself. Hope the risk outweighs the rewards.
Confronted with an opportunity to put Satan in his place, you sidestep when things get tight instead of facing him head-on. You have opportunities to put him underneath your feet. Or better yet, behind you. But no, you’d rather hide in denial instead of doing the hard work, plunging your head in the sand like an ostrich.
You know the answers, you’ve read the book: The enemy has no place in your life. He has no right to mess with your head yet you hand him the reins and let him reign.
Is that any way for a King’s Kid to act?
You need to pay attention to emotions as they are a gift from God and make you unique. But letting them careen like an out of control roller coaster isn’t acceptable. Instead you could use the brain he gave you to think and problem-solve. You have wonderful intellect, created by him. Used in combination with feelings, you can reason things out and make sensible decisions. Consider giving it a try.
You should stand up tall and walk in the new God has in store instead of cowering in fear and taking the easy way out. Be warned: If you choose to give in to the evil one, he will have his way in your life.
Maybe you deserve what you get.
Note to My Beloved
It pains me to see you mistreat yourself. I created you in my image then sent Jesus to die for you. Don’t you see how special you are to me? I chose you—not the other way around. And that qualifies you as my special treasure. Please learn to cut yourself some slack.
I see how you struggle, suffering endless torture. Strive instead to rest in me as I will never leave you.
You can take it to the bank.
Feel my arms caress, gently pulling you out of the muck that threatens to suck you down. Be strong and courageous. Be very strong and courageous for I am here.
Trust that you are not alone for I have sent you a wise counselor, the Holy Spirit that is within even now. Can’t you feel him?
He will be your guide, the still small voice, nudging you along the right path. There is no need to stumble in the dark even when the road seems endless and you feel hemmed in on every side.
Don’t worry—I’m here.
Note to Self
Maybe there’s hope for you yet. I must say, I’ve seen improvement as you’ve set aside the emotions and made some better decisions. There’s still a long way to go but even the longest journey has to start somewhere.
A baby step is better than nothing.
So stay strong and keep the enemy where he belongs. Be alert and watchful. It’s that whole ‘he prowls like a roaring lion’ thing. Keep your wits about you and don’t fall on your face…again.
Note to My Beloved
My word says to come when you are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest. It is a promise—feel free to take advantage of it.
There’s no need for the continued browbeating. I want you to enjoy life, not endure it. Living a miserable existence will only make you miserable—not more spiritual.
It all comes back to trust.
I’m here and won’t let you down. You can believe in me as I do you, my masterpiece. You are like a beautiful work of art, in the molding process for my good purposes. You don’t need to second-guess, control, or try to force the results. Just leave it up to me and I will complete what I have started.
I love you.
Note to Self
FYI: I belong to God and he says you better back off. I think it would be in your best interest to listen.

Nevertheless, the message comes across: We're all precious in His sight and we all have purpose.
