TITLE: You Scream, I Scream, We all Scream for Ice Cream | Previous Challenge Entry

When I think of my most favorite ice cream, I think about mint-chocolate chip. Two scoops of it on a waffle cone, is about as close to heaven as I can get.
When I go to my favorite ice cream parlor, I know what I want and have little patience for those little pink spoons being lifted to all the taster’s mouths that are in front of me. I am ready to place my order and wonder why these people don’t know what they want or why this parlor doesn't offer just one flavor (mint-chocolate chip) so the line can keep moving!
When it’s finally my turn, I order my cone without hesitation. I know those standing behind me are saying to themselves, “Well, there’s a woman who knows what she wants,” and they are glad they are following a woman of such conviction.
When I get my cone, I start licking it slowly, savoring every little taste. The creamy mint flavor comes alive and then I bite into a piece of dark chocolate and the two tastes collide with each other. Upon the collision, there is an explosion in my mouth that sends a signal to my brain that tells me, I should have gotten three scoops instead of only two!
Now, this story about my loving mint-chocolate chip ice cream should be over. I mean really, how much more can I say about my love affair with this wonderful treat.
But, it’s not!
You see my favorite treat always reminds me of a deeper love affair that I have with God.
I love the taste of His goodness. I love every single thing about Him. I love His mercy and kindness. I love Him on Sundays and all the rest of the week. I love Him in the morning. I love Him at night. I love Him best when we are alone.
When I take my time to be alone with God, I think about all the things He has given me. How much He has done for me. I think about how much He loves me and for me that is heaven. Knowing God loves me.
When I go to Him and I am impatience, because of all of the challenges in front of me. He always gives me a taste of His wisdom. He tells me to slow down. To let Him do what He needs to do. He tells me to wait for my turn and that He has sent other’s before me to help and assist Him in working through my troubles.
When I finally rest in Him and I wait for His guidance, He always has the right answer. I have confidence in Him and I know that I can trust Him to do what is best for me.
When I am alone with God, I savor each little moment with Him, and I get a taste of His true holiness. The reality of all that He has created collides with the truth of His Word. The two explode in my heart and I am awed by His power and grace. When I need to leave His presence, I wish that I had more alone time with Him.
I hope all of you go get your favorite ice cream and as you are licking away at all that wonderful goodness, you think about how much more goodness there is to be tasted when we learn to trust in the Lord.
