no red leaves remain to fall,
gone is the sound of blackbirds' call,
stillness o'er all
Flakes fall soft with light caress,
dusting fine with lace finesse,
and in the snow, an angel rests
the earth to bless
Underfoot is duckling down,
then crunchy-crisp, a crusty crown,
followed by slippery, slushy brown,
a changing gown
Ohhh, what glorious majesty,
winter's weave of filigree,
nature's perfect harmony,
for those who see
*******
Snowdrops show their buds curled tight,
bright green shoots with tips brushed white,
longed-for sign of frost’s sure flight,
the heart is light
Up above the birds sing clear,
merry songs that summer's near,
all around is happy cheer,
such bliss to hear
Day by day, the trees are dressed
with jackets green, their very best,
and squirrels run with a new zest,
the earth is blessed!
Ohhh, what glorious majesty,
nature's song of ecstasy,
heaven's laugh of liberty,
for we who see
