God is the ultimate artist and artisan. By His Word all things were created. By His design, all of creation declares His glory. The works of His hands proclaim His magnificence, His power, and His character.
The heavens are infinite… a cosmic latte universe that reaches beyond our wildest imagination or comprehension. The black expanse of space is dotted with millions of twinkling lights, stars that shift from blue to yellow to dazzling red as they age… and God has put each one in its place, and knows each one by name.
Earth, the planet He has given us as home, hangs against the black expanse of space like a fragile blue marble. On closer examination, its varied colors are evident. Brilliant blue oceans mingle with the greens of plankton blooms, and the grays of atolls, and the whites of clouds against an azure sky. Vibrant hues of blue, turquoise and green make up the Great Coral Reefs of Australia. Continents rise like behemoths, sable, tan, and brown. The soft orange sands of Namibia are visible. White-capped waves crash against the black sand beaches of Hawaii.
Closer still, our world becomes even more colorful. Majestic purple mountains, jade forests, crystal blue streams, and amber fields rejoice in the beauty given to them by their Creator. The sea and all its inhabitants and the fields and trees sing of God’s greatness.
God’s most colorful animals, the birds, fish and insects are arrayed in rainbow hues. Red and black lady bugs, black and gold bumble bees, and dark emerald June bugs are small but powerful testimonies to God’s intelligent design. The air is filled with the flight of beautiful birds that sing God’s praises. Blue jays, scarlet macaws, snowy white owls, and black and orange orioles are all intricately designed for song and flight. Who can look at the delicate yet complex wing of a bird, and listen to the melodic trill of its voice and not realize the existence of a Creator?
Mammals of all kinds and colors are evidence of the awesome wisdom of God. Gray elephants, red pandas, black and white zebras, blue and red-faced mandrills are all unique…all exquisite in their design… as they give witness to God’s greatness.
Man was made in God’s image, yet we are all unique individuals. Red and yellow, black, brown, white… we are precious in His sight. Man, made lower than God but a little higher than the angels, with the express purpose of having fellowship with, and giving glory to God. And yet, if we fall silent, even the stones will cry out. Beautiful blue sapphires, red garnets, purple amethysts, orange topaz, black onyx, and multi-colored opals will shout God’s praises if we do not.
Our world… our beautiful, wonderful, colorful world was created with one ultimate purpose… to bring glory and honor to the Creator God. Let us join with the rest of creation, and give God the glory and praise He so richly deserves.
