The rich man boasts to all he meets,
His purple robes exclaim,
That he has wealth to self-indulge
And make him-self a name.
The noble wife, fears the Lord,
Her purple robes express
That she has wisdom to ensure
A life that God has blessed.
Our Lord and Saviour of the world
Wore purple robes by force.
An act designed by men to mock
As scripture took its course.
The Land of Canaan, Israel's gift
Its purple dye declared
That it had wealth for them to share
A gift that God prepared.
The church drapes hang resplendently
Announcing that we wait,
For the coming of our Lord
To heal the world of hate.
The grape vine abounds with bunches ripe
Her purple fruit divine.
A symbol of Christ's precious blood
The sacrificial wine.
The iris plant grows gracefully
Her purple flowers unfold
To dignify the garden bed
Like a kingly flag so bold.
The world values the things it likes
Wraps purple round its prize
To show how much a thing is worth
Or make its value rise.
But Jesus wears his gown of white
Not purple, red or blue
Pure and shining, white as snow
Radiant and true.

Well written and reads so smoothly.
Truly loved the last stanza:
"But Jesus wears his gown of white
Not purple, red or blue
Pure and shining, white as snow
Radiant and true. "
