If ever I forget your name
Oh my dearly beloved Africa,
If ever I as much as overlook
You…or ignore deep thoughts
Of you, Oh my precious Africa,
My first home.. my first Dome,
If ever, for one moment
I neglect to elevate you..
If I am slow to pray for you,
Who are my second Jerusalem..
May my lips forget my name..
May my hands forget their
Lifting up to my Gracious
God to whom all devoted praise,
Is forever due in support of you…
Africa...my Blessed Africa…
Know that God has wrote within
Folds of my mind, rubbed deep
Within my spirit, all the love that
His majestic Word once wrote
About your striking name, the
Renowned fame He built in you.
It is in you where love for our
Creator, Benefactor, true Redeemer
Stemmed once from above within
My eager heart. It is in you, two Niles
The glassy White, the flowing azure
Blue tightly snuggle in my memory.
These two from Genesis have met,
Now still embrace inside their bed,
“The Mogran...” Never to separate,
From shore to shore, feed God’s
Greens fulfill Man’s vast dreams.
My Africa, forever more you bear
The post our God created for your role,
AFRICA!
Oh my Africa, my Jerusalem..
I praise my God for you..
