Synopsis: Sometimes in life, we need a little help. However too many times, we try to do it ourselves. Even though, God is ready and willing to give us everything that we need and more. This is a light hearted look at self reliance.
Cast: One male – Jay One female – Pam
Props: Two chairs and a map.
Setting: General Stage
Scripture: Dt.1:33, James 5:13a
Pam: We made a wrong turn somewhere.
Jay: Don’t be silly. I know exactly where we are.
Pam: So do I. We’re lost.
Jay: Pam, we’re not lost. I just need to get my bearings.
Pam: Well in that case, find us some food would you? I’m starved. Mmmm…. I would love to find a little diner. You know the kind that serves things like Pot Roast? Mmmm…
Jay: Pot Roast…..mmm... I could really go for some Pot Roast.
Pam: Pull over Honey. We need to pray.
Jay: Don’t be ridiculous. We’re not going to pray for Pot Roast!
Pam: Not just for Pot Roast. Although right now, the golden arches would cause me to do a yippee dance. We’ve been driving for over an hour and whether or not you admit it, you have no idea where we’re at. We need to pray.
Jay: We’re not lost.
Pam: Oh really? I think that cow just recognized me. It’s at least the third time that we’ve passed it.
Jay: Very funny! See if you can find Old Mill Park Rd. on the map.
Pam: Jay!
Jay: Alright, if it will make you feel better, we’ll stop and pray.
[Pantomime pulling over and putting car in park]
Jay: Wait a minute. Let me see that map for a minute.
Pam: Come on, Jay! You’re not going to find Old Mill Park Rd. Why are you being so stubborn about this?
Jay: Alright…alright.
[They bow their heads]
Pam: Dear Lord, we’re lost and hungry. I know that you know right where we are. Please, lead us to a restaurant and help us to figure out how to get on the right road. It’s getting late, Lord, and soon we will need an affordable motel, as well. Please, direct our paths.
Jay: Lord, please calm Pam’s heart. You know that we aren’t really lost just a little…..turned around but help us to find a restaurant. You know how cranky Pam can get when she’s hungry.
Pam: Jay!
Jay: Sorry Lord. Uh…Amen.
[Jay looks sheepishly at Pam and pantomimes putting car into drive and pulling out on the road ]
[Pam sulking with arms firmly crossed at her chest.]
Jay: Well, would you look at that!
Pam: A diner! Monday night special- Pot Roast!
Jay: See! I told you that I could find a great place to eat!
[Sound effect –thunder crashing]
[Lights out]
