I have arrived safely and am having a great time… except that I broke my foot when dragging my bag off the airport carousel. But that’s all fine. It’s in a cast and should be right in a few months. So there’s no reason to worry.
The sights around Paris are fantastic. We’ve been to all the big touristy attractions. Like the Notre Dame Cathedral. It was really lovely, though the steps were a bit hard to negotiate with my crutches. But Matty and Sam were really helpful. Though I did wish I had worn jeans instead of my dress because then they would have had something better to catch hold of when I tripped and fell down the stairs. But don’t worry, according to your advice I was wearing clean and modest underwear. And the black eye should clear up in a few days.
But it did mean that I couldn’t spend as much time as I wanted in the Cathedral as the attendants were shooting disapproving looks towards me due to my disheveled appearance, especially since I had to hold the bodice of my dress together with a discretely placed pin. But I have mended the tear now and you can hardly see it.
So there’s no need to worry. I soooo enjoyed touring around Paris and looking at all the sights. The art is beautiful. Though I did get into a bit of trouble when I tried to take a photo of the Mona Lisa for you. It wasn’t so much that I was taking the photo as I forgot to turn off my flash. And it wasn’t so much that, as when I was taking it I overbalanced and lost one of the crutches. It wasn’t that I dropped it so much as the fact that it hit the painting. But it didn’t cause much damage. And they released me after I paid the fine.
So you don’t need to worry. Though it seems I may have to cut my tour of Europe a little short. Which is a shame as I am pretty sure that the policeman said I could never come back. But I’ll get the embassy people to explain all that to me as they escort me to my flight tomorrow.
Oh, yes. I forgot to tell you. I’m coming home. Can you pick me up at 3pm Australian time on Wednesday from Sydney airport? I’ll probably be the first off as they are transporting me in a wheelchair.
But don’t worry. I’ve had a great time. See you on Wednesday.
Love you,
Belle
