O Christmas card! O Christmas card!
Sent by a friend so dear;
You sit upon the mantelpiece
And fill our hearts with cheer.
You carry greetings o'er the miles
That make our faces beam with smiles.
O Christmas card! O Christmas card!
You bring our loved ones near.
O Christmas card! O Christmas card!
Such pretty scenes portraying
Of stockings hanging by the hearth;
Sweet family joys conveying.
Or Santa's sleigh up in the sky,
Or snowflakes drifting from on high.
O Christmas card! O Christmas card!
Our modern fads obeying.
O Christmas card! O Christmas card!
Now notice we this sadness —
No longer “Merry Christmas” brings
To lonely souls some gladness.
But “Season's Greetings” fill the air,
We shan't offend — we wouldn't dare!
O Christmas card! O Christmas card!
From whence has sprung such madness?
O Christmas card! O Christmas card!
Behold your deadliest rival;
On tides of electronic mail
Sweeps in your doom's arrival.
We click the mouse and what d'ya know?
A dozen e-cards — off they go!
O Christmas card! O Christmas card!
I fear for your survival!
