God searches for one to stand down in the breach
To take one from disaster to safety within reach
Intercession building bridges over deep ravines
Filled with troubled waters, a malady of scenes

For the man who stands upon the precipice of lack
Thinking that there is no help and no one has his back
God will search to find the one, for a bridge to pray
God’s provision bridged the gap; lack is bound today

What about the one who has a certain death to meet
A bridge that leads the way to life for death’s utter defeat
Fervence in the prayer constructing, intercessors build
Tongues of fires, hearts aflame, sword of Spirit wield

Then there is the one who lost his way along the road
Baggage he collected from a troubled past, his load
But the help of one dear prayer, in the time of trouble
Let intercession build a bridge to walk over the rubble

Death to life, infirmed to well, a bridge before too late
God makes a way o’er troubled waters opening a gate
Safety on the other side, if only to get there
To have the answer just ahead removing all despair

Yes, bridges to be built upon, an intercessor’s call
Gap is but a dark abyss; bridge takes you over all
So rise up intercessors, take up the call to pray
Who knows who will be the one to stand for you today?

I like this line, "Let intercession build a bridge to walk over the rubble." You have a lot of good allusions and pictures in this. Your thought of intercessory prayer bridging the gulf is excellent. Then the challenge to "take up the call to pray"… Nice work on this.

Thank you for leaving a comment on my bridge poem. I see a connection in your poem picking up where mine leaves off: Jesus bridging the gap between God and man transforms us so we become extentions through prayer to others. I appreciate your message---and you, too.
