“How could I forget, Gabriel? How could any of us forget? Everything was perfect and then…thunder, lightning, seemingly chaos in heaven…I wondered what was happening. Suddenly the silence, it was so eerie.”
“Michael, how could Lucifer, the greatest of all us angels, full of beauty, intelligence, talent...he could make the most glorious music praising our God…how could he go so wrong? Challenging God!”
“Wickedness entered his heart. A third of all angels with him, cast out of heaven. Cast down to earth. But there was singing and music again; different but still praising God. We tried to make up for the lost, we’ve done our best. ”
“Michael,” almost in a whisper, “did you ever wonder why God would send Satan to earth, man’s habitat? I mean, we can see both the physical and the spiritual realms while man can see only the physical. Lucifer, that snake, fooled the woman and the man decided to follow her. All of creation changed then. Death entered and decay started.”
“I must admit, Gabriel, I was puzzled. I trusted God knew what He was doing. I knew nothing escaped His knowledge. There had to be a plan but I didn’t know what it was then.”
“I, too, was mystified. The first man born on earth, Abel, who Eve thought would be their redeemer, was killed by his brother. Adam and Eve wept so. It didn’t seem to get any better. Millions of people were eventually born on earth, almost all wicked. Only eight people were saved from the flood God sent to destroy the wickedness. The earth was changed again. I had hoped then evil had been defeated. But it didn’t last long.”
“True, but I did find hope when God allowed Satan to challenge Job to the point of death. Man was stronger than I thought.”
“He had faith in God.”
“It was his faith that saved him eventually.”
“Michael, when did you first start glimpsing God’s plan?”
“I think it was with Joseph. Being sold into slavery, thrown into prison falsely accused, forgotten by his fellow prisoners, and then later made ruler of Egypt, second only to the Pharaoh, thus being to save his family and the entire Hebrew people.”
“I’m not sure I follow you.”
“Joseph saw God’s work when he revealed himself to his brothers and explained that when they sold him into slavery they meant it for evil but God meant it for good.”
“God turning the evil actions to good?”
“Remember, Gabriel, with God all things are possible!”
Gabriel laughs remembering these are the words he spoke to the virgin Mary before she became pregnant with the Savior.
“Jesus coming to earth to save man was the high point alright, Michael. I did so enjoy singing to those startled shepherds!”
Heaven erupts in laughter from a multitude of heavenly host.
“When the apostle Paul was sent to prison it reminded me of what Joseph told his brothers.”
“You mean, turning evil to good?”
“Exactly. Paul could not go around preaching anymore, so he wrote letters to different churches…”
“And that’s how man got most of the books of the New Testament!”
“Through Paul’s letters and other authors, who were inspired by the Holy Spirit, they revealed secrets that even we angels desired to look into. Paul understood that Christ was crucified before the foundation of the earth through the sole counsel of the Trinity. It was God's plan all along!”*
“And this is why we are all here today! Look, there’s the disciple John.”
“Yes, he has been transported into the future by the Holy Spirit to witness what is happening here, then will go back and write about it. Remember the book of the Revelation?”
“There’s the groom now, the Lamb of God!”
“His face is more brilliant than I’ve ever seen!”
A hush falls across heaven as the music ceases, there’s a rustle as angles turn to see the bride of Christ being escorted by The Father. She is radiant, wearing a brilliant white gown provided for her, adorned with precious jewels. The golden walkway reflecting her beauty.
An “Awe” echoes through the heavenly realm.
Music again, music more glorious than any heard by ears before, on earth or in heaven: glory to God, to the Lamb, and His marriage to His bride.
“Oh, Michael, such music!”
“And to think it will last for all eternity!”
