He challenged a giant and knocked him out cold"
Goliath was a giant
Standing nine feet tall
And daily he taunted
The great armies of Saul.
"Come out and fight me
You low-life crumbs,
Or are you all Momma's boys
Who still suck your thumbs?"
Saul's soldiers were brave
But only half his size,
So unless one was suicidal
"To Volunteer" was not wise.
Then along came David
Who was just a mere boy
Swinging his slingshot
In his hand like a toy.
"How dare this punk giant
Challenge the armies of God?
I'd like to help the Almighty
Turn him back into sod."
David boldly stood up
Saying, "I'll fight this guy!
With God as my side-kick,
It'll be like swatting a fly."
Goliath laughed loudly
As the young lad appeared,
Then he pushed back his helmet
As the Philistines cheered.
Picking up a stone
David put it in his sling,
Reared back and wound up
Giving it a good college fling.
It ZOOMED through the air
With the greatest of ease
Connecting with his forehead
Which crumbled his knees.
I'll skip the finale
With the blood and the gore...
And just say that Goliath
"Was alive no more."
We all know the story
It's been told and retold;
But it sends us a message
More precious than gold.
You may not be a Marksman
Or a whiz with a sword,
And perhaps never excel
Throwing darts at a board.
But the boldness of a pen
In a Faithwriter's hands,
Reaches millions of lost souls
In God forsaken lands!
So Behold, fellow writers,
We're part of God's plan
To write expediently and boldly
'Bout God's love for Man.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 KJV
