TITLE: The Best Tea Cup | Previous Challenge Entry

“This is my cup and that one is yours. We don’t take turn on cups, we share the tea.” Dolly pulled the cup back, spilling tea on her dress. “Ouch! See what you did!” Dolly set down the cup and stormed off to the other corner of the toyroom.
“Serves you right.” Baby Doll picked up the cup, but drinking from it wasn’t the same. What good was a tea party by yourself? Perhaps she could talk someone else into having tea with her.
Just then, Root Beer Bear and Meow the Cat marched up, bowls on their heads and sticks slung over their shoulders. “Reporting for duty, Ma’am. Toyroom Army at your service and ready to fight.” Root Beer Bear saluted Baby Doll.
“Meow,” saluted the cat.
“I don’t want an army, I want the best cup at a tea party. Would you like some tea?”
“No thank you. Soldiers don’t drink tea. Attention!” Root Beer Bear stiffened and marched off, followed by Meow the Cat.
Baby Doll watched as they marched towards the art corner where Kid the Goat and Dolly were drawing. She missed her friend, but Dolly seemed content to be playing with someone else. At least she appeared to be turning down the Toyroom Army. Baby Doll still wanted to have a tea party.
“Mother Dog, would you and your puppies like to join me for tea?”
“Sorry, Baby Doll, but the puppies need their milk and I need to lay here until they are done. What happened with Dolly?”
“She’s not my friend anymore.” Baby Doll looked over at the art corner where Dolly sat with a crayon held above her paper.
“Those are pretty strong words. I’m sure you don’t really mean them.” The dog gave her a motherly look of disappointment.
“But she always has to have the best tea cup! I always have to drink from the chipped one.”
“Would you rather have a cup without a chip, or Dolly for a friend?” Mother Dog’s voice was gentle.
“Attention! Halt!” Root Beer Bear and Meow the Cat returned from the art corner. “Special peace negotiation message for Baby Doll.”
“Meow.” A rolled up picture emerged from Meow the Cat’s paws.
“Thank you.” Baby Doll looked at the picture. “It's a picture of Dolly drinking from the chipped cup. For her, the chip is on the mouth side. I use the other hand to drink, so it is away from my mouth.” Tears rolled down her eyes as she thought about her friend drinking with the chip next to her mouth. “Root Beer Bear, Meow the Cat, tell Dolly I expect her for tea immediately, and you are all welcome to join us.”
