Because we love them, too.
They are the treasures of our hearts,
No matter what they do.
Mine are the brightest of them all—
Of course, I would think so.
They’ve taught me lessons about God
That He wants me to know.
Like Stephie, who, when she was three,
Spilled juice on my clean floor.
She knew I’d not be mad at her;
I only loved her more.
And thus does God forgive my sin,
Whatever it might be.
His love is greater still by far;
His grace is full and free.
Sweet Allie sent a note to God,
Tied to her red balloon.
Her message was that she loves Him;
She hoped He’d get it soon.
God wants me to communicate
As I seek Him in prayer,
To offer Him my praise and love
And share with Him each care.
As Drew shopped with me for a cake,
He chose one from the rest
And said, “I’d get that one for God
‘Cause it’s the very best.”
Now when I give my gifts to God,
I carefully must choose
The best of all things that I have
For Him to freely use.
Young Nolan waited on the porch
While we were hours away.
His mom had told him we’d be there
Much later in the day.
So do I wait with longing heart
And watch for Christ’s return?
Do I work for Him all the while
And for His presence yearn?
These little ones showed me the way
God’s kingdom is to be:
Life filled with hope and faithfulness,
With His love guiding me.
SCRIPTURE
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14 NIV
