Bible Reading: Psalm 65:9-13
It’s raining here today. Most people don’t like the rain. It makes them feel depressed and grumpy. But I find it refreshing, especially in spring. After a rain, the flowers pop up from their winter nap, the dead grass puts on a coat of emerald green, and somehow it makes me feel new and clean, too.
Our Bible reading today tells us how God uses the rain to sustain us. He waters the land and it provides food for us.
Psalm 1:1-3 tells us that God’s Word does the same. It “waters” our soul, refreshes us, and we grow in the knowledge of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Of the person who reads God’s Word, it says: “He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.”
God wants to water your soul with his word today. Will you let Him?
“. . . man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” Deut. 8:3b (NIV)
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for the rain and for refreshing my soul today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
