Look around…what do you see? Newspapers filled with hate. Tvs filled with sex and violence. Inner city streets filled with despair. Now throw away your eyeglasses and learn to see with your heart…
Sometimes, an eye problem might be a blessing in disguise:
Nearsightedness
We all have our circle of influence—friends, family, neighbours, colleagues—those we see and interact with on a regular basis. But how many days are spent just going through the motions?
People raise and lower their garage doors—drawbridges to their castles—and thanks to remote control, they don’t even have to step out of the car to open the door. Another missed opportunity to speak to the neighbours, the kid on the street. Another missed opportunity to shine the light of Jesus so that others may have vision, so that others may see.
Having nearsightedness can help us look for opportunities to spread the Good News!
Farsightedness
Sometimes, that same daily routine snares us. We’re so caught up in making a living that we neglect to make a life. Having farsightedness means that we prepare for the day when we stand before God and finally hear: “Well done, my good and faithful servant,” instead of “No, I never knew you.”
The Great Commission tells us to spread the word to those near and dear so that one day far away, we’ll receive heavenly vision. So toss away those eyeglasses you use to view the world with, and put on spiritual specs.
Your vision will then be 20/20—perfect!
