I wondered about the brand name. Was it legal? Or was it stolen?
Later I discovered the Marie biscuit is produced in numerous countries. Let me share one example from Asia. “…a bakery, which earlier only sold bread, later added handmade biscuits to their range. One of the first biscuits produced was the Marie biscuit. Its popularity grew fast. The owner bought a Marie biscuit-cutter to assist in the biscuit manufacturing.”
That was part of the answer. Anyone could buy the cutter and make the well-known biscuits wherever they liked.
The outer facilities of the Communion service are not the most important factor. The true purpose of the symbols is to remind us of the Covenant of the body and blood of Jesus. 1 Corinthians 11:24-26 (NIV). Whether biscuits, bread, or corn are available, they are symbols of a greater truth. They in themselves do not guarantee our relationship with God.
God himself knows who belongs to him. 2 Timothy 2:19 (NIV).
God has paid the highest price for us. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (AMP).
He has placed His brand name on us when He bought us free from sin. When we believed, He stamped us with an official mark – His Brand - The Holy Spirit. Ephesians 1:12-14 (NIRV)
In today’s media world, many voices cry out that everyone who wants to share a message of any kind needs to create a BRAND. Otherwise, how will anyone know what they offer?
In one example a writer says:
“Building brand identity goes well beyond your logo. It includes:
- The benefits you commit to delivering.
- The promises you make and keep.
- How you follow up after you’ve delivered.
We can be sure of God’s brand identity. We can trust His commitment. By his Spirit he has stamped us with His eternal pledge—a sure beginning of what He is destined to complete. 2 Corinthians 1:20-22 (MSG)
God does not use cookie cutters to make us into copies of one another – flaws and all. His Creation contains variety. There are not even two snowflakes exactly the same. As we each bear His image – the recognizable brand of His love and grace – others will want to know Him and to trust Him too.
“Taste and see that the Lord is good.” Psalms 34:8
