He did it all with a huge grin on his face. He loved it.
Now his world consists of a bed for 18 hours a day, with short trips to the big chair in the family room…catching a nap or two there. He’s already outlived his expiration date.
Flowers arrive on a regular basis. So far over 50 cards have expressed the love of others. And food…even though he says most foods taste like burnt cardboard (when did he ever eat that?)…is delivered to the door. Friends heard that he could taste strawberry milkshakes. Sometimes we had a backup in the refrigerator as shakes were dropped by for him. French onion soup delighted him. We now have several helpings in small meal size containers frozen and ready when he is.
But most of all…friends. Friends who care enough to take time out of their day to come, sit and chat. For a brief time each day, his world expands. He laughs. He tells his own stories.
He connects.

Often a short story will make a full circle by re-introducing the "hook" from the beginning of the story and fitting it in again at the end. With this particular piece you could end your story by using your beginning sentence to bring closure at the end of your story. Example:
"The highway was his playground. He rode his sleek, yellow motorcycle through the twisties on Dooley Mountain. But no longer...In a split second of time, his life took a disastrous turn..." - (and then bring in the part about how he has found a new way to connect.) This is just a suggestion.
I loved it!
Great job.
God bless~
