Impact was brutal. He tucked and rolled, using his massive wings to buffer the assault to his body.
Winded, beaten and exhausted Malak had a moment reprieve from the war. Laying on the mountain top, breathing the crisp atmosphere of this beloved planet, he surveyed the azure sky.
The demonic realm was advancing on every front. This war was different from those he had fought through the ages, the ancient of days. Attack came swifter, from unlikely places, in ways he had never experienced. Still, he knew The Commander to be victorious regardless of the methodology the enemy used. It was the process of war that had him torn. The army was still waiting for the sons and daughters to rise up.
This latest attack of the enemy was new to the twenty-first century. The opposition was broadcasting a frequency that seemed to be very attractive to the human race. If not attractive, then at least very hard to ignore, as most were currently tuned into more than one evil frequency. The frequency, or H-U-M, as the angels called it, competed for the affection, time and resources of humanity.
Of course the sons and daughters had a choice to partner with whatever frequency they desired. Malak wasn’t sure the children even knew there was a frequency or competition for their affection and allegiance.
The most common HUMs of the enemy were so subtle that they were tactical brilliance. Humans weren’t even aware they were at war!
‘Hurry Up Man’ was the most popular weapon. It kept people in a busy, quicker, now mode that eliminated the Sabbath rest so needed for connection to the Most High King.
‘Help Us More’ worked wonders on the people pleasers. As guilt assaulted their already weakened spirits they sought to serve everyone instead of The One. This attack had even permeated the buildings that believers called ‘churches.’
‘Humans Under Misguidance’ challenged The Maker’s plan for creation. This attack frequency focused on good without God. Malak thought he heard them call it Humanism. To him it was a ludicrous assumption, yet the people seemed to be choosing this channel in droves.
‘Happiness Unanimously Maintained’ was aimed at the population in general, but found a surprising audience with the believers. The message of this broadcast was that happiness was the highest possible good, the purpose of life. It sounded close to the true goodness of God yet put Him in the box of wish granter. This twisted directive mislead mankind to think God was there to serve them.
‘Have Universally More’ was almost comical. This frequency had been around the longest. It hummed along the assumption that something more would satisfy. Something besides The Godhead. Heck this was the one that got Adam and Eve in the garden. It was still going strong thousands of years later.
Malak, being celestial, easily tuned into the frequency met for humanity:
‘Heaven’s Unique Mandate’ - the quiet, still and beautiful broadcast of The Creator.
Immediately Malak was mentally transported to different places receptive to this channel.
Joining hands around their dinner table, a family thanked The Lord for His provision. A husband was holding his wife as their newborn baby took his first breath of air. Laughter danced on the wind, as children ran and played in a field laced with wild flowers. Helping hands distributed clothes to the needy. Strolling arm in arm along the seaside, an elderly couple listened to the rhythm of the waves. An old widower was tossing a ball to his golden retriever. Holding the hand of a dying soldier, an army nurse prayed. A teenager opened a bible for the first time. A woman was taking her daily walk through the woods, talking with Jesus. Tears spilled from the eyes of a prisoner getting baptized. Voices rose in song, praising The King. A painter sought the Holy Spirit for inspiration. Angry with God - a man hit his knees, not pushing God away, but seeking answers. Food was being delivered to a devastated village.
This was why he fought. These were the sons and daughters that tuned into the HUM of The Master. They sought HIM, thanked HIM and lived for HIM. Their faith fueled the angel army. Their faith rejuvenated Malak, it was like medicine to him. Strengthened and encouraged, he raised his mighty wings ready for another battle.
