Topic: Much Ado about Nothing (not about the play) (07/28/11)
youtube comedy television dramedy
expert names sports and games
watch sand pass through the hourglass
drifting slowly away

jingle jangle flash and spangle
music and noise battery toys
hear the tick tock of the cosmic clock
silence kept at bay

fuss and twitter patter and pitter
spy on neighbors gossip for hours
chatter endlessly into eternity
nothing important to say

bobble collections bubbly confections
baubles and rings more pretty things
precious moments numbing torments
ignore behind the play

marketplaces beckoning faces
deceiving caress sensory mess
faster faster spinning master
the seams begin to fray

meth and ecstasy a veritable panoply
forbidden touch silk and such
feel the days ooze into haze
slip from the light of day

sights and sound all surround
smell and taste excess and waste
sniff the air of eternal despair
the world has turned to gray

present time gifts sublime
abuse for naught use as taught
evolved toys or designed joys
the piper always demands his pay

abundant gifts ours to sift
worldly pleasure or godly treasure
heaven sent hell spent
ignore the signs or choose to pray

so many choices empty voices
trust and see partake of me
entertainment life is spent
your soul is required today

Oh, I really like this poem, how true, true, true - so much of people’s time and energy wasted in rushing and fussing and caring about things and activities that amount to “nothing” but a waste, in the end. But yet, people say they have a hard time finding time for God! Great message - Great job!

An excellent poem on setting our priorities right. With so little time at hand, we certainly ought to spend our time wisely in fulfilling God's will rather than on things of little value. This poem illustrates the essence of 1 Corinthians 10:23 very well.
