Final week is evil
The thought was nothing new to Beka. She glared at the pile of textbooks that she and her study buddy, Jesi had to review before their test tomorrow at ten. Jesi was running late, again, but it was for a good reason. She was bringing supplies to make it for the long haul; after all, they had some 60-100 years of New Testament history to review in one night. She gave the stack of books another evil glare and they sat there, unfazed.
The pounding on the door broke the staring contest and Beka looked up and grinned. Jesi stood outside of the study room, with supplies in hand. Beka clamored to her feet and bounded across the room to open the door.
"One successful hunt?"
"Affirmative; let's get to work."
Beka nodded and the two girls sat down on the well worn couches, with their notes in hand.
0200 hours (8 hours until final)
Beka lay sprawled across her chosen couch giggling. She lazily reached into the bag of chocolate and ate another piece as Jesi asked her another question.
"Okay, Paul wrote a good bit of the Epistles; what percentage did he write?"
Beka grinned, "That's an easy one. Paul wrote 2/3 of the Epistles." She paused and eyed her drink for a long moment before blurting out, "What do you think the Epistles would have read like if Paul had email?"
Jesi snorted, sending a mouthful of energy drink through her nose. "OW! What?"
"Well, think about it, what would it read like? Do you think Paul would type like we do now?"
Jesi continued to stare at her friend like she had grown a second head as Beka continued, "Or...would his emails be marked as spam or just be impossible to read because of all of the forwards?"
Jesi shrugged once "Beka, we need to get back to studying..."
"Awww, c'mon. It's two o'clock in the morning. It's time for a break." Beka whined playfully and then laughed as Jesi tossed a pillow at her.
"Okay, fine." Jesi stated realizing that it was a losing battle. "I really don't know what an email from Paul would look like. I bet it would be perfect since he had a scribe and stuff."
Beka nodded sagely in agreement before adding, "And be so lost in forwards that people might not read it at all."
"Yeah, that's true. I'm glad he didn't. Ya know?"
"Yeah, me too, cause there's a lot of good stuff in them," Beka agreed quietly.
Silence filled the room and Jesi shifted, mumbling to herself, "Okay, back to work."
There was another pause and Jesi looked up. Worry lines creased her forehead as she peered across at her friend. Finally, a soft snore filled the room, radiating from the couch. Jesi laughed and shook her head before returning to her own studying.
