my greatest fear
is when you drive away
after leaving here.
I gave you the car
for you to drive to school,
but I’m not naïve,
and I’m not a fool.
Ipod, radio,
and the cell phone.
They are distracting you
and making me groan.
Pay attention to the road
and turn down the noise.
Focus more on the road,
and less on the boys.
How would you know
when something goes wrong,
if you’re only paying attention
to the latest song?
Listen to me
as I share what I feel.
You need to be observant
when you're behind the wheel.
It's hard talking about this stuff,
Just like the birds and the bees,
but I knew I had to sit you down
before I gave you my keys.
This is very important for us,
so take note when I mention
that driving is serious
and needs your focused attention.
So leave the Ipod in your purse
and put the cell phone away.
Your friends don’t have that
many urgent things to say.
You are a very precious
gift to me.
Please hear what I say
and drive carefully.
