I am a man
Who will not walk
Or sit and talk
Stand in the way
Of evil men
Who smile and then
Eventually betray

I am a man
Who takes delight
In what is right
Who day and night
Upon the word
That he has heard
Meditates
Considers, waits
Until the heart
Has fully fed
Upon His bread
Replete with all it will impart

I am a man
That’s like a tree
That’s planted so that all may see
Where waters flow
Sure and slow
Deep as deep can be
Strong of root
Bearing fruit
And branches lean
With leaves forever green
And countless subtle hues are seen
Fragrant, lush
Lavish, plush
Sunlit, flush
And nothing fades
No autumn shades
But leaves that heal
And in the miracle reveal
The Holy God unseen

I am a man
Who puts his trust
As all men must
In God Most High
And all the gifts He will supply
Convinced that He
My precious treasure be
That I will see
Prosperity
No worries mine throughout the year
Where famine, drought or want appear
Not locked in fear
For God has hold of me
