The tears that were once so very bitter, painfully bitter, have gained a trace of sweetness through these slowly passing years. My dear, they still come, especially in the quiet times, in the lonely times, but they are not so painful now. The tears seem to have mellowed in this autumn. I suppose your love has done its work and has finally brought you back to me.
Ah yes, our lemon-honey moments they made us who we are. Like the bees that stung us when we worked among the grandparents of these roses, the bees were but the price for daring to come ever closer to the deepest beauty - a love that is so purely human that it becomes somehow divine. With each sting, we transformed the hurt into tender touch, a kiss upon your finger, a kiss upon my own.
The lemon-honey moments only come to those who dare endure the bitter for sake of the sweet. For those who seek Your glory while never having suffered, the sweetness is for them but the fragrance of the orange blossoms. But for those who have sought Your glory even through the suffering, the sweetness is for them, the taste of meadow honey.
And so, my dear, as I work these roses, I give thanks for all the moments that we shared, even the lemon-honey ones, for they have kept us close in this gloaming of the glory. My dear, could you place one more kiss upon my finger, for the sting has come again. Make it become once more, a lemon-honey moment until those moments for me are no more.
