How do you feel when asked that question? Do you have a ready answer? Is it name, rank, and serial number? Do you answer the question with your occupation, residence, or schooling? Are you confident in your answer of who you are?
Perhaps you feel unsure of how to answer, or feel defensive by the question; maybe fearful of revealing yourself wondering how they will respond once they know you.
To be confident in knowing who you are is connected with knowing Whose you are. If you are a follower of Jesus, your confidence is in Him. Jeremiah 17:7-8 says, “but blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.
By having the Holy Spirit living inside you, you receive the living water of Jesus (the stream) that is never ending. You will flourish no matter what “heat” may arise in your life. You can be confident in all things, because your confidence is in God, Who is in you.
Hebrews 4:16 says that we can approach God’s throne in confidence, because we know that we are His, and He loves us totally. Even when we struggle, God is ready to give us His mercy and grace at the throne.
Walk confidently with your head up for you are the son or daughter of the Creator of the universe. He will never leave you nor forsake you. So be confident that you will never leave home without Him. And if someone asks you who you are, just smile confidently knowing that this may be an opportunity to introduce your Dad.
