Happy Birthday Girlee! Sixteen today! You have grown into such a beautiful young woman. God gave me a most exquisite gift the day you were born. Never content to wait, you tried to make your entrance six weeks early. The doctors managed to convince you otherwise. Four weeks later you arrived, greeting us with an obvious enthusiasm for life, gazing at us through those sparkling, sapphire-blue eyes.
What a smile you have! It lights up your face. And my heart! "So smiley," I said about you when you were a toddler running here and there, excited about every new thing you saw. You've always had your own sense of style. By the time you were three, you wouldn't let me pick your clothes anymore. You created marvelous combinations of colors and patterns, changing your outfit several times a day. Do you remember the day you were lost in the department store? Your dad and I were frantic. The police closed off all the exits. We finally found you in the jewelry department draped in necklaces and bracelets. You were having the time of your life. Such a happy girl!
To you, my lovey, life is an exciting adventure. You remind me of my dad that way. Always ready to try new things, to meet new people. Embrace that, girlee, it's a rare gift and it blesses the people around you. You are not afraid to go after what you want. Your powers of persuasion are amazing (and exhausting!) God most assuredly has a plan for your life. Seek Him first, and I am certain that you will be successful in whatever you choose to do. (Jeremiah 29:11-13)
I am so proud of you Kim! You are not afraid to be yourself. You are firm in your beliefs and stay true to your convictions even if others don't agree or would have you change. You are comfortable saying what's on your mind and don't hesitate to stand up on the side of what's right. I admire you very much! You have far more self-confidence than I had at your age. It will help you when you are faced with difficult choices and important decisions. You have such strength of character, girlee! I have been amazed at your remarkable insight into people. You have the ability to see what is behind their words and actions. You are fiercely loyal to your family and friends and are always willing to give someone a second chance. A few years ago you wrote down a list of qualities you desire in your future husband. Do you still have that? Don't settle for less than God's best choice for you!
Words are inadequate to express how much I love you! You are smart, generous, optimistic, exuberant, and beautiful inside and out. You give me great joy!
