and a fine day to play and fly,
a calming colour for painted walls,
something to add when a wedding calls.
Blue bag mother used in the wash
to make clothes white and clean.
Older women used to dye hair blue,
even if not of blue blood hue.
We don't want a fit of the blues
of melancholy depression in any hues,
or pitch a fight with a friend or foe,
but spread peace wherever we go.
To hump the bluey with blankets grey
is not someone often seen today.
A red-headed person is called blue,
to your values always be true.
A bluebell is a beautiful flower
especially carpeting a forest bower.
A blue dog is a faithful hound,
useful for herding sheep around.
A bluebottle stinger is something
you don't want to meet,
when swimming in the ocean,
or walking on a beach.
We cop the blue and take the blame,
or win a prize in a sporting game.
Blue distance is caused by a distant hue
such as in our mountains blue.
We can become blue with cold
when our circulation is getting old.
To move about in the fresh air
keeps our circulation in good repair.
