without thinking about
death and tragedy
suddenly a freak accident
came like a rude intruder
has changed my perspective
of life 360 degrees
I read this morning
two toddlers
plunged four storeys
to their deaths in a mall
A parent was holding
both of them
while standing near a balcony
on the fourth floor
of the shopping mall
but lost grip on one child
the second child then fell
from the parent's other arm
while the parent was trying
to reach out to grab the first one
both died instantly
after landing on the ground floor
Isn't life fragile?
unpredictable
and tainted with uncertainties
the young and innocent
died prematurely
Life's puzzling and perplexing
constantly haunts and taunts
me with many unanswered questions
According to a report
in yesterday's local press
both parents decided
to let her daughter go
after she was brain dead
for two weeks from a fatal fall
of her recent mountain climbing
My dear wife's lying
inside the ICU now
she'd been there
for more than twenty days
I wondered about her conditions
Would she be conscious
enough for Christmas?
My hearts ached as I pondered
over her fate
If life is so fragile
will I live my life more fully
smile more easily
take more risks
venture more
be a little kinder
to others--for I never know
I may never meet them again
on this side of paradise
Then it dawns
on me that God' s the Creator
; so I'm no accident
He has a perfect plan
greater than all sorrows
and worries that life at me throws

Your poem is a great reminder of the frailty of life.
Was your wife really in the ICU? If so, I hope she made it home in time for Christmas.
