It was a momentous year.
It was a momentous month.
It was a momentous day.
Celebrating the Passover, ordained by God through the ministry of Moses, is one of the highlights of the Jewish year. The 15th through the 22nd of the Hebrew month of Nisan is an annual springtime season of rejoicing.
Over 3,000 years ago, God miraculously brought his special people out of their slavery in Egypt. At the beginning of their last night in captivity, the Israelites had to kill a completely unblemished lamb. Their dwellings had to be marked with some of its blood to protect them from God’s destroying angel who would punish their cruel taskmasters. The next day they were free from captivity.
No doubt, John the Baptist had that deliverance in mind when he cried out in the desert, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29.
He knew that the Man walking towards him would be God’s ultimate Passover sacrifice.
About three years later, when the Passover season had come round again, Jesus celebrated the Supper with his disciples.
Shortly afterwards, Jesus stood before the Roman governor of Judaea. Appearing to be an honest man, Pontius Pilate faced a hate-filled crowd who had been incited by their religious leaders. Despite all their devious arguments and denunciations of Jesus, Pilate insisted on Jesus’ innocence: “I find no fault in Him at all.” John 18:38.
In order to calm down their demands, the Governor introduced the subject of their custom of the rulers releasing a criminal to them during the Passover. Faintly hoping he could evade their demands, he gave them the choice between the ‘King of the Jews,’ and a robber called Barabbas.
“Not this Man, but Barabbas!” was their vicious reply. John 18:40.
Very soon, the Roman soldiers nailed Jesus to the Cross of Calvary. After six hours of unimaginable agony, Jesus cried out, “ ‘It is finished!’ And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.” John 19:30.
At that moment, God’s timetable had reached its climax. He had a salvation plan on the table even before Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden. He had determined the year of Calvary. He had chosen the month of Nisan. He had decided on the Passover festival. He had fixed the day of Jesus’ death-cry.
That is why the apostle John wrote about “The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” Revelation 13:8.
It was a momentous event for the whole of mankind and for all eternity. The unblemished Lamb of God had gained deliverance from slavery for his redeemed people forever.
God’s calendar was perfect.

The links to Scriptures were a bit distracting to me, and I realize that's something that's done by the FaithWriters programming rather than by you. But knowing that it's going to create links, I wonder if it would be more effective to just write your narrative, and include the links as a note at the end of your entry.
Because of its importance many now celebrate the remembrance of this historic time each Sunday when they are able to eat the body and drink the blood of The Lamb Of God by participating in what some call the communion with the Christ.
Keep your heart in heaven and your eyes in his word.
