The dishes that some people would consider exotic delicacies are food for survival for others. Either to satisfy his curiosity or to fill his hungry belly, man eats a variety of bizarre foods.
What about feeding our soul? Thousands of people adhere to very bizarre belief systems, whether driven by curiosity, a quest for the exotic, or a longing to be satisfied. Have you ever heard of Nuwaubianism? How about the Church of Euthanasia? The Church of the SubGenious, The Universe People, Thee Temple ov Psychick Youth and countless other religious groups are feeding outlandish spiritual food to their followers. That food may give them the exhilaration of tasting something exotic, but unfortunately it will never satisfy their inner hunger.
There is only one food that fills man’s soul-hunger. It originates in heaven and has proven itself to be 100% satisfying. Jesus described it this way: “For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world….I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. “(John 6:33,35 NKJV)
Every person who comes to Jesus and believes in Him can testify that the quest is over; their longing for bizarre spiritual food has passed. They’ve found total satisfaction in Jesus, and can add a hearty “AMEN” to the Psalmist’s declaration: “For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.” (Psalm 107:9 NKJV)
