Whatever you do it is not good enough, and they will tell you that in no uncertain terms. After awhile you begin to accept their ideas to the point you lose your identity. You are no longer joyous and each day is a struggle to keep on living, but although shattered you survive. With each day you learn to cope.
Being a fun loving gentle person who has never stood up for themselves it can and did happen. My significant other was an overbearing, selfish, controlling person who believed whatever he said was law.
After years of his abuse I came crying to Jesus, and with God’s help I once again learned to stand. I found the joy I had lost, but the strangest part of my tale of woe is the wonderful thing that happened. My significant other started to change. Before long he started reading the Bible, and he also returned to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.
God is so good and he showed me Matthew 11:28-30 which spoke to my heart. I was once again able to withstand the slings and arrows of the devil, and come to terms with all the heartache and shattered dreams of my life.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
We each have troubles in our lives, and our character is formed by all those trials and tribulations, but we have a Savior who has overcome this world. He has seen, and lived through more heartache then any of us can even imagine. Jesus was a man of deep sorrow, and he can relate to any of our problems.
Life is stranger than fiction, and in retrospect I now thank God for my learning experience. It has molded me, and made me who I am today. I am a person who, “trust in the LORD with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding; in all my ways acknowledge him and he will make my paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6. Italics are mine. I personalize the scriptures so I can better understand them.
Learning to totally rely on Yahweh-Yireh, (the LORD will provide) is such a blessing and with his help I have overcome all things. Even weariness of my mind, body, heart and soul.
