Wanting to fit in, to be accepted, we join neighborhood kids in games and clubs in schools. Expanding our circle of friends and support groups, we draw near to those sharing our passions and desires. We seek coaching and attend pep rallies to prepare for winning the next game. We join study groups to pass our tests, seeking tutors for those subjects weak in our arsenal. Trying again and celebrating our achievements, learning from our mistakes, we strengthen in our pursuit to be somebody.
With our families, jobs, and communities, we journey to new horizons. Shadowed by inexperience, we find mentors to guide us when we are the junior employee or the first time parent. We overcome challenges with creative ideas resulting in recognitions of parental prowess or job promotions. We strengthen our skills by encountering resistance, pushing us to innovative solutions in cost or efficiency measures. We overcome discouragement by seeking out those with greater knowledge to draw on their wisdom. We look for those who build us up and seek guidance to reach our goals. We help each other by becoming advocates for those with less advanced skills, those in need. We understand our project or family success is as a team and we hold each other accountable for milestones. We accept accolades and share in the honor of a job well done.
Our faith walk mirrors and defines us with Bible study, prayer, servitude, church events, and a personal relationship with our Lord. When we stumble in our walk, we fall into the arms of the divine. He will steady us; center us. When we cannot, or will not, walk on our own, He carries us giving us strength and counsel. He encourages us to try again. When we grieve Him with sin, He is our advocate for forgiveness, disciplining us in love.
He shows us His grace and mercies are new every day with glorious sunrises. To dispel our fears in the darkness, He gives us a nightlight with the stars and moon. He shows us His promise after the storm with prisms of light in rainbows. He sings with the birds of His joy in our trusting Him.
He places people in our lives to give us balance, to fire up our passions. He shows us how to love and help each other, expecting us to apply His teachings. He takes us on new adventures and explorations when we follow Him. He provides us with the playbook for our lives expecting us to read the instructions, to learn from them. He will meet us every time with a roadmap to the ultimate destination. He celebrates with us when we choose Him over the world, when we put others before ourselves. He delights in our seeking His wisdom and worshiping Him. He is our Father, cheering our every success. He is watching, waiting, for us to come home.
Heb 12:3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. (NKJV)
