He was soft spoken, gentle, kind and understanding. He put his hand on my shoulder and when I looked into his eyes I saw a peace which seemed to surround me, and I knew all would be well. Everything seemed to fall into place after that, and before I knew it everything was done without further ado.
The hostess stepped to the microphone, and called the meeting to order. Everybody found their seats and the guest of honor was introduced to all those in attendance simply as Brother John.
I sat there gaping at the guest of honor. He was none other then my rescuer. When he spoke everyone grew silent. We sat mesmerized and the message he delivered was so empowering, and filled with such hope. He spoke with authority and the message was one I had heard before, but this time it was different.
He opened his Bible to the Book of Romans. He read all of Chapter 8 and when he read : ‘No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us for the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.’ I was in tears.
I now understood what it meant to truly believe. I felt the weight of the world being lifted off my shoulders, and I knew what it felt like to mount up with the wings of eagles.
As the meeting drew to a close he chose Ephesians 1:5. “God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.”
John lifted his eyes and swept the room with eyes filled with love, and quietly said that he had a very important appointment that was made for him before he was born. One that had been ordained by none other then God the Father. I knew in my heart that the appointment he was talking about those in attendance would be there as well as myself.
John bowed his head, and we did as well. He gave the blessing from Philippians 4:7 and the meeting came to a close. John stepped away from the microphone, and you could have heard a pin drop in that place. Not one person moved, because all were praying and praising God for sending this quiet, gentle man into our lives at this time. A time when the world is in such turmoil and full of corruption, and great evil.
