“I’m so glad you enjoyed yourself Marge, but something came up, and I couldn’t make it. I’m so sorry to hear about your upset stomach and ugly headache. I wish I could help, but unfortunately the effects of all that booze and drugs has to slowly work its way out of your system before you’ll feel better. Well, Marge, I’m running behind and if I don’t hustle I’ll be late for my class. So, girlfriend I’ll catch you later and you can fill me in on what I missed. Okay!”
“Right on my friend. I don’t have class until later this evening for which I’m so very thankful for. By that time I’ll be able to function at a half-way decent level of intelligence. Catch you later Jul.”
As Julie hurried to her class she thought about the high price Marge, was paying for her reckless living. Oh Marge, you need direction and guidance, and I wish you’d stop calling me Jul. My name is Julie goose. I think I know just the person you need to meet. I know you will just fall over yourself when you meet him. He is so charming, sweet, gentle, giving and filled with the love of God that you my friend desperately need now. Jonathan, the love of my life, will lead you out of this sick world where you, Marge, have been wallowing in since you got wrapped up with the, so called, in crowd. They are so lost they couldn’t find their way out of a room even if it had doors all around it. Tears fell down her cheeks as she ran to her chemistry class.
Marge staggered towards Julie and Jonathan, and grabbed Julies arm before falling into her. She grabbed Julies shoulder to keep from going down and in a shaky, scared voice hollered, “Help Jul. Something is terribly wrong. I don’t fell so good.”
Jonathan caught Marge before she hit the ground, and carried her to the closest bench laying her down gently. It was his final year of college before he became a physician. He grabbed his pen light and checked Marge’s eyes. Julie grabbed her cell phone calling an ambulance to get Marge to the hospital as fast as possible. “ Alcohol Toxicities.” Jonathan told Julie.
Marge awakened to find Julie sitting close with tears running down her cheeks and Jonathan rubbing her shoulders gently. “Hello Jul, why all the tears. I’m not dead yet.”
“Oh, Marge, you ding-a-ling. You almost died from alcohol poisoning and the drugs in your system just compounded the problem. Jonathan saved your life goose.”
“Jonathan, hello! Jul is this your excuse for missing the party? Whoa, you go girl.”
“Marge, you’re a goose, and yes this is the reason. Marge if you hadn’t found us you would have died. I hope you’ve learned a lesson. Those in-crowds are dumber than dirt. Life is too precious to waste.”
“Yeah! I got it finally. Could I join you and your gorgeous boyfriend from now on?”
“You bet you can join my fiancé, and myself in a heartbeat. I’m so glad you’re alive, and getting back to your old silly self goose.”
“Jul, don’t call me goose. Okay!”
“Then don’t call me Jul. It’s Julie. Okay!”
“Yeah! Gotcha Jul, oh I mean Julie. Marge said as she drifted off to sleep.
“Oh Jonathan, I thank God for saving Marge’s life. We’ve been best buds since we were little. I met her in Kindergarten and that was the start of a wonderful friendship that has lasted all these years, and I thought I’d lost her. She came so close, but thank you Jesus she is on the right track once again, and from now on we are going to teach her how not to wallow in the world of sin, but live for Christ my love.”
Jonathan pulled Julie close assuring her of God’s faithfulness, and that Marge was once again back in His presence.
