In our walk through life, we will often meet those who seem so burdened with life, they become hurt or resentful, not only towards others, and themselves, but mostly towards God. They seem quick to complain of the struggles, slow to see it is mainly the baggage they refuse to let go of.
In our Christian walk we tend to dwell on those things which help bring us down. We forget the good times the Lord has given us, the trials He has seen us though, sometimes far greater than the trial at that time, seeing only the baggage before us. Yes, even the greater ones that follow the Lord have done so.
The children of Israel.. They beheld the pillar of cloud and fire. By the power of God Moses parted the Red Sea for them. They were give bread from heaven to eat, and quail that covered the ground. Yet when Moses was gone from them, for his time on the mountain with God, they began to grumble. They saw only the baggage of their life, and forgot it was God that carried that for them.
Elijah, the prophet and great man of God, he witnessed the power and blessing of the Lord in many ways. The Lord called a drought, and yet fed him by ravens bringing food. With the widow for two years, feeding 3 of them on a handful of flour, and by his hand, raised the widows child back from death. Later, he called the power of God to bring fire down from heaven. And yet when Jezebel threatened to kill him, he ran. He saw the small trial before him, the baggage, and forgot the greatness that he had seen in his God. A mere pocket book compared to the mountain of cargo the Lord had carried for him. (1Kings 17-19)
We often see the small burdens in our life as so vast, and sometimes it may be so, but when we look carefully, what has the Lord brought us through, what has HE done for us. "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." (Mat.11:29-30 NKJ) His yoke, the cross. Now that was a mighty big piece of luggage.
