“Good afternoon Mr. Farnsworth and how are you feeling today? Would you like to join me for a big glass of fresh made ice tea and a chance to enjoy this fantastic breeze as well as some good conversation?” I said.
“Thomas, that sounds like a pretty good idea. It has been some time since we spent a Saturday together. We can enjoy this wonderful cool breeze and you can fill me in on all that’s been happening in your life. Let me put my mail on the kitchen table and I’ll be over.” Mr. Farnsworth said.
Mr. Farnsworth was the only one that called me Thomas and I rather liked that. Mr. Farnsworth walked over to the big chair on my patio, sat down stretching out his legs, and sighed.
“So tell me Thomas how have you been? I see your wife and those young teenaged children of yours quite often but it has been sometime since I’ve seen you.” Mr. Farnsworth said.
“I have been so busy at the office lately. It seems as if I am there more then here. It feels so good to get a weekend off and I can enjoy some peace and quiet. I miss talking to you. I always valued your opinion and teachings. I heard you mumbling about the weather and how times are changing and we can talk about that if you like.” I said.
“Thomas I’ll start with the weather if you don’t mind and then I’ll explain about what I meant by times are changing. You probably didn’t pay much attention to how the weather has been changing but since I am a Meteorologist, I still keep track of it. Fall was cool and crisp with many vibrant colors but now the leaves turn brown sooner, winter was colder with lots of snow but now it is milder and snow is almost nonexistence. The spring was the time of renewal with sweet fragrant smells, gentle rains to help things grow but now it doesn’t rain as much, and it starts getting hot long before summer comes. The summer was lazy, hazy and enjoyable but now it is hotter and more people suffer heat strokes then ever before. There is more ozone action days and plants, grass and trees die from lack of water.” Mr. Farnsworth said.
“Do you know Mr. Farnsworth I never really gave it any thought but you are right about the weather changing. This summer so far has been brutal and it is only July. I thanked God for that lovely rain we just had. The grass was burnt to a crisp and the trees were drooping so badly. You can just about hear the grass and trees singing praises to God for that lovely rain we had.” I said.
“Yes Thomas times are changing and the weather plays a part in these changing times. God has the power to use anything He wishes because all creation belongs to Him. If He wishes to use the weather to get our attention then He can and will. Thomas no one can even begin to comprehend how deep, wide and forgiving His great love is for us. We serve a magnificent benevolent loving God.” Mr. Farnsworth said.
