God has His ways of using children sometimes to turn people with the hardest hearts unto Him. As in this story, I will tell you about a severely handicapped child who soften the heart of her doctor. Cyndy was barely three when she met her new neurologist whom had just gotten out of the Airforce. Dr. Dean met Cyndy when she was put in the hospital for having many of seizures in a twenty-four hour time. He had started at the Children's Center on first of August. Cyndy had been admitted on the third of August to get her seizures stabilized. Cyndy's care wasn't the easiest for him since he constantly had to come back to the hospital room to bring her out of seizures.
Cyndy managed to find her way into his heart in the three days she was in the hospital. Dr. Dean was a cold-hearted doctor and didn't like to let the children bond with him. Cyndy managed to soften his heart during that first hospital stay. She won his heart the first time she regain her wits when she would blow kisses to him and give him direct eye contact. Cyndy didn’t care that he was gruff. She was about her Heavenly Father's business to soften hearts and lead them to finding the love of God in her short life.
Over the next eight years, Cyndy would break Dr. Dean’s heart many times. She had many narrow escapes. Cyndy helped Dr. Dean see that children with severe disabilities had a part to do with God's Heavenly creations. Before meeting Cyndy, Dr. Dean didn't mind informing a mother who was carrying a child with disabilities to have an abortion. Here a doctor whose job was to care for children who had neurological disorders didn't care that he had sat down with parents that were happy about having a baby yet because the child will never live up to the world’s standers tell the parent that the child should never be born. Talking about popping parents to be bubble what a cold way Dr. Dean had to being a bad news bearer. He wouldn't tell them the things that could be done for the child.
It was twenty-one years ago that I the mother of Cyndy met Dr. Dean. Cyndy went home to the Lord eleven years ago. Since Cyndy's death I have watched Dr. Dean come from a man with few values or love for the Lord to a Man that has taken his call to being a doctor-- neurologist to seeing that those special children do have a important place with in God's Kingdom. When Cyndy died this man cried like a baby. You would have thought that Cyndy was his child and he had lost everything he had. Dr. Dean now tells his parents now how a special little girl had touched his heart and shown him to way home to the Lord.
Dr. Dean now tells the parents to be that come to see him now what medicines he can use and how he could treat the baby once it arrives. He now encourages parents to carry their child and see the blessing that the Lord has given them. Abortion is no long a choice among Dr. Dean's patients.
