The Beach Called Myrtle

Our son, Nathan is a doctor/anesthesiologist. Recently he went on a medical mission to Romania and the Ukraine. He enjoyed his trip so much that he wanted to take his wife.
In October of last year, he made a return trip on another medical mission and as he had planned, he took his wife, Cyndi.
Cyndi was so taken with the Romanian people. She just fell in love with them. In the time she was there she told of a miracle she experienced. When she was home in the States, she was very fond of a certain song and when she was visiting one of the churches in Romania, she happened to hear someone practicing the very song she had been so fond of. She said she had practically worn the CD out of the song, she played it so much. She listened and thought she must be mistaken, but no, she wasn’t mistaken. It was her song. These people did not know her and could not have known that it was one of her most favorite songs, yet here they were singing and playing it in her presence. She said it just spoke to her heart that God cared for her so much, he even arranged for her to hear her favorite song while she was so far from home.
Our son had been trying to persuade us to go to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for quite sometime. Finally my husband agreed to go. We flew down with our daughter Catie and stayed in Nathan and Cyndi’s condominium. I was so thrilled to be able to go out on the beach every day and walk up and down barefoot in the sand, looking for shells.
Later in the week our oldest son, Louis and his family came and we were all having dinner together. Nathan was helping with the cooking, which was a first for me to see my son cooking. Then to top it all off, he began speaking with a Romanian accent. Everything he said he spoke with the Romanian accent. I had never heard my son in his entire forty+ years do a comedic act. As an old acquaintance of mine once said, “I doggone near got down and rolled.” He was so hilarious; I told him he should have been a stand-up comedian.
My husband, Lou was a riot also. When we got to our daughter’s house, we took our bags into the foyer and our son-in-law, Ken took my bag and put it in the trunk of the car, since he was going to drive us to the airport. He missed my husband’s bag. He wondered about the lack of travel bags we had, but thought we knew what we were doing.
As it turned out, when we got to the beach, my husband discovered he had no clothes. They were still sitting in Ken and Catie’s foyer. He had to go out and buy new clothes, from socks, to underwear, to pants and shirts. He was fit to be tied.
While out on the beach one day, Lou took his shoes off and waded in the water, but neglected to put his socks and shoes back on. He sat down in a beach chair next to our daughter, Catie and the next thing he knew his feet looked like lobster feet, they were so sunburned. He could hardly walk for several days.
One of the things I enjoyed most was the trip on the plane. It was so beautiful to look out the window of the plane and almost feel as though you could reach out and get a handful of cloud.
All in all, it was a really good vacation. We hadn’t had a vacation for several years. Now we want to go back to Myrtle Beach again this fall. We really enjoyed the trip.
