What does every girl dream of growing up? Okay, besides a pony! She wants a man to tell her she’s beautiful. I understand the first thing Dad said when I was born was “Just look at those eyes- those beautiful eyes!” Now if you look at my school pictures- I wasn’t the type to get a second glance from any boy. But in Dad’s eyes I was the prettiest thing he ever saw (besides Mom- of course!)
Girl- it’s about being beautiful on the inside, too. I knew I could talk to my Dad about anything. He was always there to cheer me on or lend a helping hand. How could I not believe in myself with such unconditional love and support?
And through it all- Dad always kept his cool. He also was cool enough to understand that Looney Tunes were always funny- even as an adult. And as an adult I try to do and remember everything he taught me-- including checking the oil in my car. Yes, Dad- I did it yesterday!
Yesterday is gone- but like those Looney Tunes and old movies- my Dad's a classic. He may never make a fortune like Tom Cruise, but he’s passed on a wealth of wisdom beyond measure. He fights Parkinson’s just like Michael J. Fox. He’s not Superman, but he is my hero.
