the scars I lick -
their twisted forms outlining
life lived
I did not ask for a childhood
like this, tormented and testing,
tearing
You were there
in every moment,
every breath taken
in every room
I felt forsaken,
who would have thought I would
cling to You now?
These scars have fused me to Your side
with nowhere else, You've gently led
and called me softly, so so softly
and with undying persistance...
When these scars ache in loneliness,
the throbbing memory, You come
and hush me, hold me hurting, now
until the pain has passed
I am weak, yet You have raised me up,
I blink, still awed by how You've come,
this light You bring as I unfold
and let You wash away,
fulfilling dreams in the everyday
life I
live
now.
I hope one day these bitter things
these twisted lines and silver scars
will encourage others to come to You
for help and healing, restoration...
...but now
just let us walk together.
